What is Shilajit – Mumie Resin?

In many traditional holistic systems, in particular Ayurveda, as well as conventional Eastern European medicine, shilajit has a place of a supreme healing substance. Shilajit the most famous name for the substance known in English as mineral pitch for human consumption or mineral pitch for short. Other cultures use different names for Shilajit. Antiquity works in multiple languages: arabic, old Persian, chinese and Sanscrit, as well as later works in many European languages describe harvesting, processing and application of Shilajit. Traditionally Shilajit was used not only to heal multiple conditions and improve overall health, but also used in combination with other herbal formulations, to increase their efficacy.

 

Shilajit is in high demand; its potent healthful properties well established through thousands of years’ use by traditional practitioners. Today, most products sold on the US market as “shilajit” are imitations of genuine shilajit. One clue to the authenticity is a product’s form. Imitation shilajit usually comes as a powder.
