Why shilajit belongs in a serious training routine
Shilajit is one of the most studied natural substances in performance circles, made up mostly of humic and fulvic compounds, trace minerals, and amino acids. Research on the category has looked at training, recovery, and hormonal health — including a 28-day pilot on daily shilajit resin use, and a systematic review noting a standardized shilajit extract’s possible effect on testosterone in men with age-related low levels.
We won’t tell you Research Grade itself has been clinically tested for performance outcomes — it hasn’t. What we can tell you: the category has real research behind it, and the sourcing and testing behind your jar should matter as much as the ingredient itself. Full citations below.
Sourced right. Tested twice. Made in the USA.
Most shilajit is priced to move — sourced fast, processed cheap, sold on volume. Research Grade starts from the Himalayas and other high-altitude ranges, narrowed to the top 1% by our own internal standard. The rest doesn’t make the cut.
Every batch goes through two independent checks before it ships:
From there, sourcing, processing, and packaging all happen under our own roof in the USA — no outsourced blending, no third party deciding what goes into your jar. Our low-temperature process is protected under U.S. Patent 10,130,656, built on one principle: heat degrades this material, so we don’t use it.
Resin. Not candy.
A gummy is shilajit after it’s been heated, cut with sugar, and stabilized into something shelf-stable and sweet — steps that work against the material you’re buying it for. Resin skips all of it. No heat processing, no sugar. Just the resin.
One ingredient. No excuses.
Research Grade is a single-ingredient shilajit resin. No stimulant stack, no proprietary blend hiding what’s in the jar. The label is the whole story.
How to use it
Supported by research
We don’t ask you to take claims on faith, including the science. Here’s what’s published on shilajit — click through and see exactly what each study tested:
Note: The Janković study was co-funded by Pürblack (a Pürblack founder is a listed co-author, disclosed in the paper) and measured shilajit’s compound content for an unrelated nanomaterials application — not human supplementation. Some studies above tested shilajit resin generally, not Research Grade specifically.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Cambium Analytica, an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited lab, tests each reviewed sample for arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury, and specified microbiology. Full report here: [link]. That report covers the tested sample — no batch/lot code or listed action limits, so we don't claim it certifies every individual jar.
Yes — contamination or undisclosed ingredients in some supplements have been linked to positive tests in athletes. Research Grade doesn't currently carry a batch-specific banned-substance screening program or a competitive-sport certification like NSF Certified for Sport, so we won't claim it's cleared for tested athletes. If you compete under drug testing, talk to your sport's governing body before adding any new supplement.
No. Single-ingredient shilajit resin. Full label and serving info on this page.
Whether they publish full third-party lab reports — not just a badge. Whether results tie to a specific batch or lot. What was actually tested. Whether the product carries any recognized sport-specific certification, if that matters to you.
Both are Pürblack shilajit resin, sourced and processed the same way. Research Grade is positioned around inspectable documentation — the sourcing standard, the dual COA, the linked research — for people who want to review the record before buying.
We offer 30-day returns on unopened products. If it isn't the right fit, reach out and we'll make it right.
